Korvensuu 31.8.

Spending the morning time in Korvensuu. Water is running totally out of the river, the flow is under one cibic meter per second. I tried to find active fishes before started fishing. In the calm, middle parts of the rapid area there were four or five trouts, which every now and then surfed around. I had to crawl to the riverbench. I fished about two hours, some fishing and then let the fishes calm down and again fishing. Not a one of the trouts were interested in my flies, and I tried all possible tricks. The leader 0,12 mm and the flies from number 12 Leech to number24 Ant, and everything in between. In the fast rapids I caught 3 minor trouts and a roach. Perhaps I have to think for some nights, how to catch the big ones. I need better luck next time!

Till now not very much fishes: 2 graylings and 2 trouts, which are legal size. We are fishing on, and I have a feeling, that soon it will happen and a big beast is hanging on my line!
The autumn is coming, treess are beautifully colored. I sit by the river, and the views are extra fine. Shit... Fish On!

Fishing zanders from 17.30 to 21.00. 13 zanders of which legal size 9. The biggest one46 cm, some extra was 5 tiny pikes and a perch.

First in the morning we fetched two kilos of perchfile under the Ava bridge. In the daytime Mikko and Ulla angled a good mount of perches by Korso bridge, biggest 530 g. Arnulf and SFM-toimitus went on pike hunting. Again about ten small (1-2 kilos) summerpikes, but with many different methods: spinnerbait, buzzerbait, grubjig, shadjig, jerk, wobbler and dead baitfish (perch and roach).

Under the Ava bridge in the morning from 6 to 9 o´clock. Two and a half kilos perch file. The biggest 470 g. Motor oil and bleak.
In the afternoon around the Brando islands. About 10 pikes, biggest 3.1 kg, with Shadjigs and Jerks. Some perches, too.

SFM-toimitus, Mikko, Ulla and Arnulf
Fishing perches in the bridge area from 4 to 7 o´clokc pm. Ulla got two. Total result about 50 fishes, medium weight 300 g and the biggest one 450g. Motor oil works!

With Veli Autti trying to catch whitefishes in a very warm day and noon time. I had a couple of nice hits, but Veli even caught one fish with greenish pupa fly. I was not totally without fishes, because I caught over ten tiny perches, but perhaps we do not count them...ln the evening we had a competition for fun in the Lake Littoinen with Fishing Club VSP. I won that match with 2 roaches and a perch. This lake is excellent for flyfishing pike, so I have to return there.

Fishing in the morning one hour in the ferry harbour of Vartsala. Petrus got two perches with bleak. One hour in Osnas harbour. Petrus got 25 cm zander with twister and a pearch with bleak.

In the morning from 6.00 to 8.30 o'clock under the big bridge of Ava. Over 20 perches to take with, medium 400g, the biggest one 600 g. Only one fish with grub twister all others with living bleaks.
In the evening from 17.00 to 20.00 o'clock fishing in the stream by Korso bridge. About thirty perches 300-600 g with bleaks. Perches accepted dead baitfishes too, when fished with a floater running in the stream. A two kilos pike was caught too by Ernst.
Brando, Bjornholma 21.8.
SFM-toimitus, Rolf, Ernst and Hanspeter
Busy and eager perch fishing all day long. About three kilos filee. The biggest ones 850 and 750 g. Fishes took only living bleak bait. The temperature +26 centigrades.

Working hard all day long to fish perches, but result was only one and half kilo filee, though we lowered the minimum to take up a fish in 200 grams. The biggest one only about 350 g.
Mara was number one in catching good size of fishes. Greenish and yellow grubs and shads were the best baits. No bleaks around, so no good baitfishes avaible, but with three small roaches three perches were immediately taken up (small ones). Obduktion showed, that perches eat now kilkki (= a kind of crab), only few small fishes were found. Soon it will be the time for motor oil.

Earlier in this week we had decided with my fishing pal Janne Hongisto to practise casting in friday. We went to Vikajoelle for eveningfishing. Friday was totally hot day so we thought later in the evening would be a good time. About 19.30 we began fishing, first we caught small graylings 25 and 20 cm with small nymphs. Then we fished downwards with no contacts. In the sunset began a hatch of mayflies, and ment immidiate results. I caught small graylings all the time, and small forelles, too, they all took nymphflies. The biggest trout was 30 cm and really agreedy fish. When I took photos of the fish I saw a taifin of small fish in the trouts mouth. We met a mother and daughter (15 years)flyfishing in the river! I hpoe we will meet them again, it would be nice to talk about flyfishing with then again. It was a nice trip!
Brando, Ava 15.-16.8
SFM-toimitus and Seppo
Afast trip to Aland to check up, if the perches still are in the streams, and what is their diet. Temperature + 27 C and almost calm. In wednesday we started at 16.00. There was a lot surface living under the big bridge of Ava, only bleaks were missing. Our catch in the evening was about thirty perches to take with (250 g and +), double that amount we released. Motor oil was taken all evening long, but every now and then. The biggest one (550 g) was caught by Seppo with three inhes, glass clear and blue glitter grub, which was the hottest lure, too. Just in the sunset time, the machine was a grub with glittery green body and silvery fishtail. All the twisters needed to be slided on the bottom, falling lures caught only the babies.
Thursday morning our session was fron 7.30 to 9.30 o'clock. Now the bleaks were there. Living bleak fished on the bottom was "the one", it beated all the other lures 10-1. We tested twisters, wobblers, hegene, spinners and spinnerbaits, and caught fishes with all of them. Our total catch was about the same amount as in the evening, biggest one about half a kilo.
Espoo, Nuuksio 13.8

Visiting first time Nuuksio to fish there. I biked about 52 km from South-Espoo to Nuuksio National Park and back. I fished the small brook Brodbackanoja, Nuuksio's Pitkäjarvi (a lake) and the ponds Haukkalampi and Mustalampi. I had time to fish just few hours, but I caught two pikes (under 40 cm) and a 300 g perch. Nice places, next time I take more time and wander around more carefully to take photos.

Fishing zanders from 18.00 to 22.00 o,clock. 29 zanders visited our boat, 13 was under 40 cm. The biggest one 48 cm. We had a lot of hits, too, but still we are missing the really big ones.

Kuisma took a bus and went on up to the north. I thought to have a day-off and to go to fishing, because it had been quite a long time since last time done it. I drove at 14.30 to Vikajoki hoping to catch graylingsToday I decided to learn correctly the upper parts of the river. First cast and a 25 cm grayling. I waded further more and fished with a heavily weighted nymph. Soon I had in my net a 34 cm fish, witch I took with to fry on the pan. Finally I caught a 32 cm grayling. I finished at 16.00. A nice trip!

We arrived to the rapids with the sun shining at 8.30. Kuisma began in the upper parts, and I began to nymph by the stones and the mirrors. Not many casts were neede, when it happened. We caught many small trouts and a lot of hits. Kuisma caught 3 legal size (30 cm) graylings. It was fun! Two happy men drove to the Polar Circle Shell station to drink coffee and to watch girls go by.

Kuisma came in the morning to Rovaniemi railway station. We tied some flies and had breakfast, and then to the Kongas. The weather was nice, half cloudy, the temperature12-15 centigrades. All we caught today was two small graylings, though we fished from 16 to23.30 o'clock. We tried all the possible tricks and techniques, but it did not help. The Kongas was dead, only Kuisma had a heavy hit, that was all. The water was in low level and very warm. It has been relly long tome ago, when I have had total NF. Tomorrow to Vikajoki.

Pete, Tawny and Rauno
We made a fast visit to Turpoonriver. We were there about 17.00, bought the licences and drunk a cup of coffee per person. First we fishes the upper parts of the river under the dam. We caught mall rainbows and trouts 5-6 pcs. At half past six in the rapid downstreams a 2 kgs rainbow took my large tinselfly. A real fighter! It was not put in the river just yesterday, because the fins were undamaged and the fish was in really good condition.Tawny and Rane caught more of those smallies. Silver and white were the right colours. Green Leech was good, too.
At about 21.00 began a really hot hittime. Tawny had a couple of nice hits, but lost both fishes back to the river, pitty. Rane had a nice rainbow on, but the fish fouught under a float of rushes, and got the hook away from its jaws. A bit later I was casting upstream with a white Zonker. With second cast I caught by a stone 1.3kg brown trout.Really beautful coloured and nice looking trout. The owner of the place told us, that the fish might be original fishes of the river. This year they have caught alot of trouts in Turpoo
Afun trip to this tiny river, but again I felt, that it was too early, when we had to go home. Just when it was action going on all the time.

Again eveningfishing this beaty ofsmall lakes. Not so many insects hatching as last time, but anyway good amount of tailing whitefishes. Jani caught three fishes and SFM-toimitus one. Jani's biggest one was 36 cm. All the fishes took different flies: Midge Pupa, Gray Nymph, Pupa, and Doublehackled. The sizes of the flies were important = #16-20.

Rowing for zanders two hours with no results at 20-22. I tried to fish pikes near by the island Pikkuvasikka, and caught a 82 cm long and very fat (about 3,5-4 kg) pike, which took irritation colour Laxman- pikespinner. Nice fight at sundance made me smile quite widely.

Ihad to try once more. Cloudy,+12 and a bit windy. Yesterday's visit to vikakongasleft so bad taste in my mouth, that I had to try again the same river. I had with me as test flies small blacks tied in golden hooks, which everyone has told to be a hot combination. Perhaps it was the hook, the hit was furious. From 16 to 19 hours I made 15 grayling notes in my fishing diary. Over the legal 30 cm size were only two, but...Today I had enough cigarettes with me and fishing was good, too. Next weekend again!
Kynasjoki 2.-4.8.

After 29 days of summerholiday I had a need to relax in familiar place, Kalle's camp in Kynasjoki. There were many people fishing the upper parts of the river. Walking a while and we found a new grayling pool a bit upstream from Saukua, and the place was peaceful. Janne Huhtanen, 17 years, showed to me the hottest spot. I caught immediately two 35 cm fishes with brown beadpupa. I tried to learn the polish fishing techniques, but got no results with it, but roaches and perches hit the flies. Tapsa Penttila fished grayling in friday evening and saturday morning and caught 4 pcs 30-35 cm and about ten 25 cm. Rasinbows were not in the mood to hit.

The final spot of this nice weekend.Eveningfishing. Temperature about+14. Half cloudy. Weak wind: Half of an hour fishing with no results. When I had decided to go home, I caught an about 25 cm grayling with a nymph fly. I was out of cigarettes and the rain began. It was not just so nice day today...

On the road in the afternoon. Temperature +15. Half cloudy. Again nice winds to hold mosquitos away. I was fishing ashort rapid area with nymphs and pupas. The nymph (look the photo) was once again effective in this place. a lot of good hits. Saldo in three hours of fishing was 6pcs about 30 cm graylings plus some smaller ones.It was a nice day again...

Nice fishing in early eveningtime. Air +15 and a bit windy to hold the mosquitos away. I caught some small 20-30 cm graylings with small pupas. Water level was a bit high and I had no contacts with trouts. When I came to the place, where the river runs to the lake, the graylings began a real eating session. In half an hour I caught about adozen of legal size (30 cm) fishes, one of them 42 cm. The hot fly was a surface nymph. That was fun...

In Sirma we caught a female, a bit dark 10 kgs salmon. There was a lot of fishes on fishermen's. Many crews of boats were fighting with fishes in a small area. Next day in Yla-Peura under Kalgu we caught a silvery 5,5 kg male salmon, which was a real fighter. Both fishes we caught with Wayla-wobbler and by rowing. There is a lot of salmon seeds in Teno, if you think about years to come.

Busy, sunny and warm day in perch hunting. By the bridge of Biskopso it was quiet, only a couple of under 100 g fishes. By the dock of Prostvik we found some over 200 g perches, which took bleaks as baits.

Two hours testing a small lake some tens of kilometers from Turku. Jani caught two fine whitefishes with a CDC-pupa tied in n:r 20 smudge hook. Male fish was 33 cm and female 34 cm. See the photo!

Ahour and half casting near by a shallow area and I caught two perches. Water about 25 centigrades and the wind was blowing quite heavily from the mainland.
